View Full Version : Character - Early progression
chips__ 05-04-2003, 07:27 PM Hi,
I decided i'd seen enough of that alley scene i was working on for one night, and dived into subD's :) Takes a bit of getting used to!
Keep in mind, this is my first organic model in maya  and please don't let me show you the wireframe... it's UGLY
but any comments are very welcomed!

nice looking first organic model youve got there, i like they way it looks, but i would take out the wrinkles above the eye lids because it looks like you have a river on his forehead, but other than that, it looks nice

ehhhh, any thoughts on how to smooth a selection of vertices on a subD object in maya? i'm stuck!
the lighting and low dmap resolution is really distracting and takes away from the model. model looks pretty good though, i agree about the wrinkles above the eyes though.
you could do it with a cluster... select all the verticies that you want in your selection, then go to deform->create cluster, then go to paint cluster weights to smooth the selection. once you're finished with the cluster, you can delete history on the object to bake in the deformation. it's a bit more of a pain than it is in max. if there's a better way i'd love to hear it.
