Hi everybody, I'm new here. :) I'm graduating from RIT's film/animation department, looking to get into 3D modeling for video games. My question is...do you suggest a wacom tablet for texturing characters? I'd rather focus on modeling skills for a demo reel, but is it that much better to have a tablet instead of a mouse? Money is tight, but I do want to make my stuff look the best possible. thanks!

That does kinda depend on you :)

I've seen a lot of great work done with a mouse only. I even used a mouse for about 16 years to paint on the computer, and even in my last job, where I was the lead texture artist at a VFX studio, I used a mouse to paint all my textures.

However, I use a Wacom now. It does have advantages such as greater intuitive control and applied pressure control, which is really cool for painting textures. The thing is that I still use my mouse a lot as well when painting.

I would recommend getting one personally, because they are incredible for painting really fine details that are sometimes a bit tricky with a mouse. They are also lots of fun to use, and do give you a greater intuitive edge.
