Title: Abstract Painting Room
Name: Jon Eric Morgan
Country: USA
Software: 3ds max, mental ray, Photoshop
Here is a simple scene done in 3ds Max using the Mental Ray Renderer. Textures were made using the Mental Ray arch+design material except for the abstract art painting. I have to give credit to Dosia McKay for this unique piece of art work.

That is a very nice rendering!
I love the mood , the composition and of course the painting.
Only comment would be that the reflection of the window on the floor should not be higher in value than the window itself (which might not be, but it is quite bright). And maybe blur the reflections a tiny little bit. ( But again that is just me!:scream:)
Great Job!

Sweet render man! Love the lighting and composition. Keep it up!
very nice man! simple and clean and realistic. nice job.
very nice! Lighting is superb, would you mind sharing the light/render setup? It's just that is superior to the usual lighting people get out of mental ray, I'd love to see how it's done.

Thanks to everyone for your comments!
Leonikou: I'll have to review my references on the reflection. I'll try another render on a lower reflection setting with a small bur. Greatly appreciated, thx for you critiques!
Lo: Here are my screenshot settings for the scene.

One thing that I did different before I rendered out the final image was render out a Final Gather Map and Photon Map overnight. I can't remember the total time for the FG/Photon map, sorry. Once it was finished, I rendered a higher resolution image with a mid sampling quality which didn't take too long to render since I already have the FP/Photon map (1 hour).
I hope these work out for you, enjoy :-)
thank you for taking the time to make the screenshots!
