Tibetan Snow Abomination
Alright, I'm not going to be able to work on this after April 6th. I really don't want to be working on this while i'm vacationing in California :P. So, I have some work to do, lol.

This might not be clear yet, but these two concepts are actually the same creature. The first image is the creature in a docile state. The second is when the bell rings :).

Lovin' the samurai attire but Gyorkland is right in terms of more Japanese designs. Since he's samurai-like, he should wield some variation of the katana.
By the way, I like your second sketch.

Gyorkland and Stacy: I will make sure to address pattern and design soon enough. I'm trying to get the big instrumental pieces shaped in first :). My character is a long deceased samurai that has been reanimated, so yes, a katana will probably be his weapon of choice ;). Good call Gyorkland. I'm going to keep designing.
I want this character's samurai armor to be sunk into his flesh and bones, as if hundreds of years buried, instead of decomposing, the samurai became one with his armor. Taken from that old saying "the samurai's sword is his soul". So his armor must be his body :). When Fujiryo died on the battlefield he sunk into the Earth waiting to be brought back by the gods. I desperately don't want to fall into the category of just another typical samurai character. I want to make this dude unique :). So I'm just going to have to dig deeper.
quick color, nothing more...

Eric, I'm diggin' the gnarley hands and muscles. Like Vinod said, the gesture is great!

Alright, while developing the Japanese concept I sort of got sidetracked by another idea. I now have a new concept. I thought it would be fun to develop a race of creatures inspired by Tibetan/Chinese design, and inspired by the abomidable snowman :). The concept has quickly developed into something I am finally satisfied with. (thank god). These mountainous creatures are warlords that use holy magic. The magical artifact that these creatures possess is not a literal hand-wielding weapon. The artifact is a small magical bell. When the warlords center of harmony is disturbed the bell rings. The creature's monk-like calmness turns to terror.

I kind of feel unqualified to comment on your work because I don't work for Raven Software, but I think this is looking really nice. I love your inkwork on the earlier piece, but this new one is nice too. The feet feel like they could use some more fleshing out. Maybe it's just because it's only the front view, but the feet a bit small to support the massive body. Keep fooling aorund with other proportions, too. The horns are a great design, but there's probably room to make them longer... Or thicker, or gnarlier. Keep experimenting with it, and good luck!

Update on page 1. Head designs.
Sean: Hey bro'! I didn't know you were entering. That's awesome! I'll be sure to check out your entry soon :D.
Mike: Thanks Mike! I finally settled on something for once, lol.
Walrus: LOL, that's because the only people I know on the forums are friends from work :). You are more than welcome to comment or critique :D. I agree with you on the feet. They are very small. I roughed them in pretty quickly. Ultimately, I want the feet design to be lion-inspired. I worked on the horns some. Thanks for you comments! :)
Toifel7 and Alex Novo: Thanks!

Another Update
I've also been developing the concept more. Hundreds of years after the apocolypse the world has become docile. Technology and industry have been lost in the ruins of war. Civilizations were reminded of the value of basic survival. And over time, the citizens of the ruined planet found peace in simplicity. One of the primary agents for upholding this peace, are the Nyin Drilok's. A race of mountainous demons from an unknown origin. An origin long unknown, the Nyin Drilok's came into being shortly after the apocolypse. the people of this future Earth regard these beings as the upholders of peace. Although they appear emotionless and docile, their temperaments are controlled by the disonance of human emotion. Violence and war spark the Nyin Drilok's into a violent frenzy. Which is why the population of Earth is now dominantly occupied by buddhist tribes and colonies.
More to come.....

this is sweet!,
something about his legs bothers me.. perhpas its the proportions, maybe you can try and go even further with the big upper body and smaller lower body ? or look into a more hoove style of toe
I love the long fingers on the hands but it seems like they dont match his toes yet.. ??
Your face concepts are brillinat dude, keep it up. the horns rock !
