Hey guys!

I am very new to modelling and am now trying to do my first real model...I am trying to model an alien in maya using polys (tutorial I found somewhere)...

As normal, I only made one side of the head. Now I want to mirror it and attach it, so I can render the full thing...

Heres my problem: When I do this, the 'seam' between the two meshes doesnt disappear! Even after attaching the surfaces, welding the vertices and smoothing the entire (new) object!

I am such a rookie... you guys got any ideas?

Thanks!

Oh and the seam in the forehead was supposed to be there... I am more concerned for the nose/chin...

check the NORMALS for the two pieces of geometry. Go Display>Polygon Components>Normals, and make sure they are facing the right way. Especially if you duplicated your half-face and scaled it by -1
