View Full Version : Problem with SkinMorph modifier on 3dsmax
Pierro56 02-29-2008, 12:27 PM Hello. I have a problem with the modifier Skin Morph. I used it and I want to do some modification. But when I opened my file today and went to the skin morph modifier I couldn't move any vertex. I clic on "Edit" and I can't do nothing. To sum up, you use this modifier and you can't work again on it later??? Is ther someone who has the solution? Or may be it's a 3dsmax bug? I work on 3dsmax 9. Thank

One possibility,
If you have any edit poly modifiers under the skin morph and they are active any vertices that are not selected in those edit poly modifiers will not be included in the skin morph solution.
recommend adding edit poly modifier under the skin morph modifier in the stack and then selecting all the vertices in the edit poly mode. Then make sure the edit poly modifier is not active (grey as opposed to yellow. Now all vertices should be available in the skin morph modifier.
Also consider using morphx reactions instead of skin morph to create corrective morphs for your character. Morphx is a free additive morphing plugin for max you can get it here under freeware

I talk a little bit about how to do a corrective morphing setup using morphx here.

Also check out this tool that helps a lot with getting good joint deformations reducing need for morph targets.
