I've never made a game character before, but the challenge seems awesome, so I'll give it a go.
Angst will be the name of my character, it is not really human, and will be either an Invoker or Warlord.
I'm still sketching out different ideas, armor, and body parts and figuring out the magic/artifacts my character might use.

Here are some basic concepts, more to come when I get time.

Updated concept in Photoshop, I drew more of the bottom half and front of him, but will have to upload that when I get to a scanner.

A few more updated images.
I'm going to start base modeling soon, then I can edit the objects as need be, and add more details, especially to the feet.
I'm thinking he'll carry a huge hammer type weapon to smash the hell out of the machines. It might contain a magical orb to make it an artifact. Fire/lava or Earth/rock are the top choices right now for the weapon.

Something might go in the center of the belt, too.

I was thinking of possible weapons, and came up with this idea.
The handle will be larger and I'll enhance the rest of it later. The bulbus end might end up being a skull or have a design on it.

Pretty cool idea. The bones on the arms don't seem to feet I think. This is probably due to th e fact that we don't find it anywhere else. Good luck.

Yeah, I don't know if I'll keep those or not, I was just testing out some various possibilities for armor.
I may make something similar, but of steel.

Just under 2000 tris.
I changed the feet and will be figuring out their final look, then scultping in ZBrush.

Hey, the base mesh looks pretty good so far, and the ZBrush detail helps bring it to life.

He looks like an earthy/muddy kind of character.

Maybe you can make his armor more like solidified rock, while the rest of him looks muddy, instead of metal armor. (or lava/ash, which ever you end up going with)

PS: that is one large belly button :)

I thought about a rock type armor, and will give it a try in ZBrush to see how it will look.

I still have to figure out the process of editing the base mesh after high detailed sculpting and still keep UVs for proper normal mapping.

edit: I've seen some entries with similar characteristics as mine, so I'll be thinking up some changes to my character, one being the stomache area

I began updating the armor, and making it part of the character's body instead of an external metal sruface. Still under 6000 triangles. I hope to finish up this base mesh soon, layout UVs, and then sculpt more in ZBrush next week.

Slight updates, still working on the weapon, and the body before working in ZBrush. I changed the axe head a bit, and may make it of stone, instead of steel. The handle will probably be edited too.
