Looking for crits and comments please.

I'm in the process of rebuilding the character heads for Kaneva, hoping to improve the quality from what we have currently shipped.

I'm using directX shaders for skin tones, multi-pass separating the skin, eyebrows and make up (for player customization). The scene is set up with one main light (front upper left) and a single kicker (behind and to the right of character).

Wow these look great! I haven't tried Kaneva but I am pretty active in Second Life - which I am sure you know has woefully unattractive avatar meshes. These look fantastic, beautiful and interesting faces with a nice "real person" feel. :)

Please tell me your boss isn't bringing Second Life's avatar meshes up as examples of "good work" that would be MADNESS. It has all kinds of issues and is tough to paint a skin for. I paint skins and sell them in SL for the SL avatar and it is a little like torture. Lots of tricky shading is necessary just to accomodate awkward aspects of the figure. ( I don't mean to trash the original creator of that mesh I am sure there were good reasons for the decisions they made.) But still the anatomy on it is just whacked. I love what you have here - lookin good!
