View Full Version : mia_envblur not updating with image sequence
YourDaftPunk 02-28-2008, 04:42 AM I've been using envblur with the mia_materials per zap's blog post:
http://mentalraytips.blogspot.com/2007/11/more-hidden-gems-miaenvblur-gloss.html
and I noticed that the animated .exr sequence I'm pumping into my environmental shader does not update if it passes through the mia_envblur node (if I connect the env directly to the camera it's fine). mia_envblur seems to calculate the blurred environment only for the first frame! I could really use some help figuring this out. I'm under a tight deadline and the stress is killing me. Thanks.

hi
for somes reasons Maya don't update images sequences with pading [img.#.ext] so just change the order to [img.ext.#]
exp:
my_image.0001.exr change to my_image.exr.0001
hope this help!

Thanks achoury, but it is not image sequence related. The sequence plays if the files go into the environment directly. It's only when I connect the mia_envblur that things get wonky.
Additionally, and I mentioned this on LAMRUG, it is fine when I scrub through the timeline to a frame and render via the render window (the blurred env updates), it is just when I batch render that the mia_envblur node stops updating. It is permenately cached somehow.
Very frustrating!

Turns out that I needed to go into the Render Globals > Translation > Performace and turn on 'Export Textures First'. This was apparently the default mode in maya at one time, but it is off by default in Maya 2008.
