Hi, i modelled this for a friend of mine, which is making a short cg movie on Grendizer, the japanise '70 anime.
This is a restyle of a vegatrooper, a standard soldier from the Vega's army.
Done in Max 5.1, subdiv modelling, Brazil r/s

Enjoy :)

Sometimes i ask myself where do you find all the good ideas for your illustrations, you're always fast, precise and original even if you have to copy and restyle an old character giving him another life. Another great example of good modeling, lighting and rendering, can't wait to see the final movie!

Thanks Thirdeye, especially for the help with Brazil, although you don`t use it ;)

Ciao, Ale

I don`t know... i tried to stay close as possible to the concept of my friend , but the goal was to keep the original '70 look, with some modernisations, even the minimalist background is made on this view

and here`s some references of the serie, for who don`t know the grendizer serie (sorry for the bad quality)

Sounds intuiging but we've got a case of the dreaded RED X syndrome so can't see a thing.

Grendizer GO!!!

Very nice work!

This was my favorite cartoon when I was young(actually still is hence the nick ;) )

Just a note on the first pic(render),I'm pretty sure Vegan forces, with their diabolically advanced technology, would've had better to freshen the air than with a simple fan ::D

Keep us updated

Very nice work. The hands are fantastic! My only criticism has to do with the camera angle--it makes the antenna look like it's attached to the fan. :scream:

The hands are the strongest part. nice work there!

I was wondering if the skin is the same throughout the character. Because it looks like it tiles more on the stomach and it stetched more on the legs. Should they be the same pattern? Check that out.
