While collecting ref-images for a project that requires some extensive tiling I ran across a small app called Genetica.
http://www.spiralgraphics.biz/genetica.htm
I'm testing it now.
It's PC only which irks me as I hate workflows that require me to switch machines cause my PC's are getting old.
But it seems great, it can do things like combine different images to get an effect such as paint peeling off revealing a base layer texture.
It uses several effect layers to get complex textures.
And I believe all layers can be exported individually to give you bump, transparency, and diffuse(color not diffusION).
At face value, it seems like such a great little utility that I'm damn surprised it's not talked about around here much.
Downside is that the Pro version is $399 US, the standard though is $129 US.
Not sure how much of a difference there is between the 2.
I was just wondering if anyone uses it or has even heard of it?
If so, is it worth the $$$?
Or does it not do anything you can't do with standard shaders or Photoshop?
