View Full Version : Mental Ray render twice !

Hi,

I've got this problem for a while since I use 8.5.
When I've use mental ray and render layers, my renders calculate twice...
It means that when the render of my animation is finished, it start again from the begining.

Does anyboy know why ? And how to fix that...

hi...got the same prob while ago but for still image rendering when i was on maya 7.0...i think it was my graphic driver the prob (not sure)...when i do redering with "preview final gather tiles" on...it crash my comp and when i do rendering with high quality render setting; it restart from the begining...just like you describe but in my case it's for still image...hope it help:)

Install SP1 for Maya 8.5.

You've likely got more than one camera with the rendering flag turned on. Check your camera attributes and see if it's checked on for two cameras.

no, i've only one camera and it render twice exacly the same frames...
I mean it doesn't render 2 pictures for each frames, but it render the same animation two time, the second time it just overwrite the first render (wich is 100% the same)...

Must be a bug wich hopefully can be fixed with the SP1.
Didn't try yet the service pack cause I'm finishing a prod and don't want to have any problem now, but I will look at that next week.

Another strange thing...
I have 8 passes. One of them is a maya volume light (wich is calculated with mayasoft), most of the others are rendered with MR. When I launch all the passes, my volume light pass is black. When I launch this pass alone, everything is fine... Strange !
Hopefully could be fixed with SP1 too...

Anyway, I'll have all my passes tomorrow morning (even if it is rendered twice, it doesn't matter, if it's still going, I'll stop it just at the end of a frame).

From the SP1 release notes:

Previously, scenes containing render layers with a single camera rendered with Maya’s batch renderer (Render > Batch Render), rendered the same layer images multiple times. This is now fixed.
