I am kinda intimidated by the amount of talent on this forum, but I guess we all have to start somewhere.

This is a room scene that I am currently working on.

Click for full render.

There are a few more main elements that will be added to the scene, then detail work will follow.

Modelled with Blender rendered with yafray.

More details can be found at http://www.sa.n-depth.net/livingroom.php .

Please feel free to say what you need to say if you think it will help me to improve my work.

Thanks

UPDATE:

I changed the couch to match the chair, rearranged the room for better viewing of the scene, and redid some of the colors to get the feel i want for the room.

Click for fullsize.

Its still kinda grainy but I plan on rendering at alot higher quality when it's complete, these are just tests.

[update]

I have started adding some detail to the scene, sorry for the low quality render I was pressed for time.

Yet another update with a little better lighting and some more details.

Hi Shay,

Look good. I have a few points though :)

1. try to add some light on the walls from the lamp, though the lampshade... does that make any sense at all?
2. the couch... Add some seams, make the pillows less regular, and add some folds to the main part of it.

for some reason i'm totally facinated by the lamps table!?!?!

Hello,

It is a good start indeed :)

Some comment regarding the detail on the bank; You should make it less static, bij making more imperfections.

But keep up the good work ;)

Thanks guys,

As for the couch, it will be replaced as soon as I come up with a more fitting design for the scene, I have a new chair that will also be in the scene that fits in better with the tables.

The lamp does produce some light on the walls in the full render, I am working to figure out why it won't emit more light closer to the lamp.

@chips__ : are you fascinated by the table in a good way or does it somehow seem awkward?

@Dalaran AW: Bank?

hehe, in a good way! :D

can't you just add a point light with a falloff in the middle of the lamp, and make it not cast shadows?

much better! the couch is now of a design where you dont need as much bumpiness or imperfections for it to look normal. also the gray floor looks better with the colors you chose.

that looks SO MUCH better! maybe the black shadows are a bit too black. Try to lighten them up with some ambient light..

nice! The cardboard on the pizza box is a bit thick isn't it?

this looks nice, yafray is a really good renderer...

i´d try to built up some colour contrasts (yellow-blue, red-green etc), this way the picture gets more interesting to the eye. your scene is dominated by blue colours which makes the overall atmosphere a little bit "depressive" :) .

but it´s a very natural lighting, keep going!
