Heyas! - so here's my problem. I'm trying to throw a texture on top of a toon shader but it refuses to work. I've tried several different things I've found in the archives and google but they're all a bit too different from what I need or just way too vague...well anyways.
My character is an angel and I want him to be toon shaded but his winges to be textured. I *almost* solved the problem by getting the blue color of my texture on the wings but the white was blotted out due to the method i used. So I scrapped that idea. I tried doing an alpha map but maybe I did something wrong I don't know it didn't work. Another thing I triedd was I had a lambert with the texture placed in its color slot and the alpha map in the transparency. Threw the lambert in a layered shader with the regular(maya default 2-tone) toon shader right behind the texture. That apparently didn't work either. Any idea guys?
Thanks a ton in advance...

If I remember correctly, haven't used Maya for quite some time now, I used to use the Ramp shader and in the colour slots (checkered flag) I assign the maps. You can assign maps to all of the attributes, specular, etc.

You can either have a map at one end or maps of different colour/shades at both ends etc.
