View Full Version : WIP - First Maya project - Egyptian Alley

I started using maya a few weeks back, and decided to try to create a photoreal scene (encouraged by a friend) in my desperate attempt to find work :D
first lighting test

looks pretty good man,
only thing i see is the texture on the back house is a lil blurry
other than that good job

Looks really good so far. I like the lighting can you explain what types of lights you used and where you placed them

spirogyro: First of all, thanks. It's a really simple lighting setup. i have one spot that's blueish, and really dim, point down on the back building, and one really intense slightly orange spot from the end of the alley (imaginge there was a complete alley :) ). the latter one being really small, to get the kinda small area of intense light, which i really like.
Then i turn on final gathering in mental ray, and voila!

May i Suggest a higher res texture set? the bump map is very low res and its quiet apperent. Other then that I think your lighting is quite good. Perhaps your orange light is a bit to intense... It also could use a bit more orange (gold) with perhaps a low intensity pink.

now the new bump/deformation map is too strong and much to low res as well...
