Title: May Day with mice
Name: Pauli Pehkonen
Country: Finland
Software: Photoshop, XSI, ZBrush

This is an examination work for my degree in graphic designing. It's a personal work.

The base topology of mouse and cat models were modeled in xsi and sculpted(textured in ZBrush.

The furs of the mice were rendered in their own passes and composited over the main image.

The cat's 3D-model was actually made in a different scene and positioned/lighted according the rotoscoped main image and then composited together with some additional painover. (the cat's 3D-model had no nose or eyes)

Nice work, it's a very detailed scene. My eye's get drawn to the face on the wine bottle every time. Is there any story behind this work?

I must say I was surprised to see the thumbnail and it was getting 5 stars, just a ballon, but I released why when I click to view more.

I really like it and the idea is very unique. 3D like that is what impress me.

Making a cat and a mouse in 3D isn't interresting but it's what they are doing and allowing the imagination run wild!

very nice work :)

my favorite part of this wonderful composition is the little mouse skipping along with his balloon.
have a glass of champagne yourself, well deserved. :)

YES!!! Great model, texture, and redner in XSI! I use XSI, and it is always an encouragement to see a great render done with Softimage rather than 3Ds max or maya! Not that I don't like those programs, but it's just that it seems like everyone uses it, and I don't have access to it myself, haha. Anyway, great composition. What all did you use XSI for beside the Cat and Mouse models? The table, chairs, and cloth done all in ZBrush? Thanks for posting - 5 stars!

Thanks for the comments :)

There is no story behind the work. I just made up stuff as I was working on the characters.

All the props were done in XSI. I Used ZBrush just to enhance the characters and to texture them.

Here's a screencap with the catmodel imported in the main scene

How wonderfully bizarre! I love it! Very nice work, one small crit might be that the floor rug is very "thin" - it appears to be paper thin.

Nice work!! I enjoyed it! :)

That's really good. Quite a unique look to it that transcends CG and the tools per say.
