Awesome.

The animation is sooo good, every time I sea the trailer I sea new details in character movement.

And it's really funny, something I can't really say about Monsters Inc.:hmm:. Maybe Finding Nemo is (also) intented for a more mature public (a bit like Shrek was).

Yes, and with a 40-minute fight scene like in Two Towers.

there is times when a good fight sceen is needed in movies and there are other movies where all you need is a little laughter.
on days i would rather watch this and other days two towers type movies.
you have to have your happy inbetween.

whats so special about it, pixar sucks

gunthi, if you are here becasue of animation and wanting to get into a field, i feel sorry for you.
especially since you can't back up a reason why you would say something like that.
it's a pretty ignorant answer.

I think that "The Incredibles" and "Cars" are a Pixar/Disney films, but later......who knows.....

The web Animated-Movies wrote this few days ago:

Disney-Pixar Deal Renewal "Coming Together"
With the latest animated film from Pixar Animation Studios coming at the end of May, Disney CEO Eisner said he is personally involved in negotiating a new deal with Pixar. "It is going along well," Eisner said of the talks, during the 2Q webcast. "Our relationship couldn't be better and we have a mutual interest to come together." He however added cautiously, "until it's done, I can't say it's for sure."

Cheers:)

If I remember right, yes both Cars and The Incredibles are under the Disney film but that's it. AT one point Disney was trying to squeeze a Toy Story 3 out of Pixar and part of the grief comes from that.

Whuile the trailer is incredible I was slightly miffed about something: they had to result to the potty humour, mainly the burping fish and the farting pelican. I hope this doesn't become a new thing in Pixar films. It's real easy and brainless to put up that kind of humor in movies today (cmon do we want a Pixar film with humor on the level of the Klumps or Big Momma's House?). I still found the pelican shot funny but hopefully it's just an isolated incident.

This is the last one under Disney rule.. The incredibles is not a disney thing (they are playing the trailer befor nemo and i heard it is the most amazing thing you'll ever see).. And as far as toy story 3, Disney actually had the audacity to come out and say, we can make TS3 if we want, with or without PIXAR.. YEAH RIGHT!!!!!

I hear ya. I think we started that with Bugs Life and it's getting old to me too. The Pelican however was not farting, it just looks that way in the trailer. And the burp has more context than it might seem, but i would hate to spoil it for you!

The Incredibles and Cars are both under Disney and are shaping up to be good movies. Like i have said before, we are still learning and getting better with each release. Incredibles is looking really good and has a great story line too. I think it will be another TS personally.

Thank you to everyone for the kind comments.

thesaint, yeah please don't spoil it I like to be surprised (I hated they spoiled the second Identity twist in the TV trailers). Sometimes I just worry that Disney might be pushing for that sort of broad humor as opposed to the better and more subtle approach. It's not bad per se (I laughed in that bit anyways) but it's difficult to pull off right. Kinda like the difference between Airplane and Naked gun with the rest of the clones (many with Nielsen btw) or say a Farrely bros film with the rest of the gross out comedies. You know what I mean ;-).

Can't wait to catch that first Incredibles trailer. Gert job on Finding Nemo.

baby: I am an animator.

Johnlittle: As far as i know there is no Bugs Life 2 in planning. If there were it would probably get sticky because of the Disney partnership. We are already making the deal-end title right now.

The incredibles is due for 2004 and Cars for 2005. Both are sloted for spring, just like Nemo, but i suspect Incredibles might be a little later than that. The animation has been a real challenge for us. Fun, but challenging.

malducin: I agree. I have worried about that too. Whenever i get my 2cents i try and find another way. I laugh less each time i come across it in a film. Maybe having kids does that to you???

Anyway, hope you all enjoy the film as much as we did when we saw it!

If Pixar ever create a movie on par with Shrek - then they've lost it.

Am I the only one who thinks Shrek was an awful movie? I mean, the modelling and everything was obviously great (what was it, 800,000 polys in each character?), but it seems like that's all they can brag about. I can't stand watching Shrek at all. 'Course, that was Dreamworks, not Pixar. Not that there's any significant difference between the two. ;)

Much as it pains me to say it (I'd love to see one a year) I hope you don't fall into the trap of rushing films out for the sake of it - story has always been Pixar's greatest strength (and lately Disney's weakness). I goggle at the story development time you guys put in, but it sure pays off.

Can't get over the colours in that trailer! Gorgeous!

I liked the burp/fart gag, everyone here in the studio laughed out loud and we're all pretty classy :) "Done right" is the key. And kids never get tired of it.

You'd think they could've got it released in Australia sooner than Oct given the Aussie setting of the film - I thought us (New Zealand) getting it in Sept was bad enough. No wonder DVD's get parallel imported! A 3 month wait sucks. UK even worse! Meanwhile, we get Matrix before the US, by virtue of time zones. Disney/BVI are killing you there.

Keep up the great work... man, just when we feel like we're gaining, you guys up the ante again.

yes its true.. but im flying to the states to see it.. And about potty mouth humor.. i dont understand why they needed to curse in shrek.. It such an insult as an adult to think they need to do that to keep my attention.. why do i have to explain to my 5 year old neice why she say to people "i have to save my ass" or why she shouldnt go around singing "i like big butts".. i just dont understand it.. I LOVED the iron giant, but why did they have to curse? Couldnt they have just said "who the heck" instead of "who the hell" or even just left it out period.."who is going to ..." I just dont get it?!? In real action films its okay because people curse and it ads to the beleivability of the film, but an animation pitched to kids with cursing in it?

flip

kiaran
05-09-2003, 08:12 PM
"i have to save my ass"

This line contains a double meaning. ('ass' being another word for 'donkey'). Considering that the majority of prime time television stations air words like 'bitch' 'whore' and 'ass', it would be impossible to shield your son or daughter from said words. I know this isn't a parenting forum but I think the best thing to do would be to explain these words to your children. Demystifying the curses and explaining their crudeness will help the children become more objective viewers.

'The times they are a changin'

Cheers,
Kiaran

Actually I hope Shrek (which was geared to an older audience like Antz) and others help break barriers. Unfortunately in the US, animated films are only done, geared and perceived as being for little kids, which is very limiting. In Europe and Asia animation is a more developed artform with all sorts of stories, from the innofensive kiddie stuff, to stories for adults. Breaking the perception in the US (especially after Final Fantasy and Titan AE tanked) will be difficult but hopefully it'll happen. At least Dreamworks is trying slowly. Moer adult animations should would probably have some cursing to add believability (if the story erits it) just as it does in live action9like in action film). Heck even a lot of PG 13 movies here already have tons of profanity.

Shrek was NOT an adult movie.. It was blatently advertised as a childrens movie

Demystifying the curses and explaining their crudeness will help the children become more objective viewers

Demystifying is not a good choice. My neice knows what both meanings of the word ass is, I dont need any surprise visits from it in a movie geared towards children.. they think its funny, its an adult word used in a child like fashion , so they run around saying it.. I just think its irresponsible and i really dont see what the function is..

And yet again, i dont see what it adds to a film like these to have the character (iron giant) say "who the hell would the government send, kid!" Is it really something that has to be there. Isnt it something we could sacrifice for the kids sake!.. Yea times are a changing, thats what worries me...

for example, i just read an article about someone trying to get pornography into a highschool class to show kids a proper and loving sexual experience, and how it should be.. trust me as soo as i find the link ill put it up..
