After searching the forums, I am still having difficulty in finding the right MR shaders for my scene. This is the first time I am using mental ray shaders. Is their any links that will help know how to using these shaders?

I am using the physical sky shader(for sky and sun) in my indoor scene. This is a daytime scene with sunlight directly coming in the room(window). I am also using GI+FG.

Q: Is the mia materials only available in Maya 8.5 and higher. If so, what alternative shader should I use. I am using Maya 8 and I need some help in this area.

Thanks:)

Yes, and No :)

mia is not included with Maya 8 version. But It could be used, just copy dll,mi and script file to maya 8 and get mia inside hypershade.

But, as far as I know, Maya 8 doesnt include sun and sky shader, so how could you use it, or you have used yashu mr sun sky port for maya 8 (an very old thread we discuss when maya 8 first release without sun sky).

I used the mad_physical sky.dll shader for mental ray.

I searched through the net and I just cannot find the mai materials. :)
In the meantime I will use the shaders I have available. Any help will be greatly appreciated. :)

not mai, but MIA. exactly name is mia_material or mia_material_x

Get an eval version of Maya or try PLE, I dont know they has MR but hope that, then copy dll, mi and atribute mel file and go with mia in previous
