in the first image, the composition is strange, I'd lift the whole thing up a bit (and hide the repeat texture on the wall) ...
character seems ok, not very charismatic to me, but I'd need to see other pics and animation... your choice of colour is really special - on purpose ??? seems like strange compositing with channel blurs or something like that...
Don't forgt to post the short, when its finished...

cheers guys..

Thornes...Im not sure whether i follow you about the composition comment. In the final thing the camera will be rolling, it's not just a still image.
Explain to me what you mean by charismatic? i never aimed it to look cartoony, but neither too realistic...i wanted the whole thing to look believable... or are you trying to say that he's not a very 'photogenic' character, like u know some people never look good on camera, if thats what you mean then i totally agree, this guy is not the prettiest, or the sweetest guy you have ever seen.

Yeah..the colours have had some channel bluring, and also some other neat tricks all done on After effects. strong colours are what im looking for, and im happy that u guys think it's effective also...

yes your right about the wall, but i really havent the time right now to re-render it, i will once i have time...

Funny, the colors gives me the strange impression that I need to put on my stereoscopic glasses! Very different approach, hope to see it animated.

I think your character looks very appealing. From the still, I want to learn more about him. He looks to have life and presence and is different from all the other 3D characters I've seen anywhere. I think his torso is a bit strange though - like one of those dolls with a soft body and hard head. Conversely, such a body could add extra audience appeal - they are somewhat passive and friendly, if you know what I mean?

The colours are wild! Quite hard and disturbing yet still attractive. I think a well-matching soundtrack coupled with that look would create a very strong effect. Personally, I find the reds in the plants a little too harsh, but an animated camera could change that. I'd love to see the finished film, are you planning to post it or a link?

Is it a colaboration or personal project?

Thanks very much Gingerhammer, well my character poseses alot of my own facial textures...look at those wonderful lushy eye brows...:-) all mine..

I agree with you about the body..

Yes the colours are wild, and they do get wilder when we go into the 'dream scene' i got about 15 days for the deadline, i dont think im gonna manage a soundrack in that time, i will definetly do one at a later date, i have some good stuff in my mind...I will definetly post a link here in a few weeks time of the final thing,

This is a 2nd year project for my university course, if it's good enough to land me a descent job then i will leave my degree and come back in a few years time to finish it off, if it's not good enough this year then i will do the degree.
I have had 5 months on this project+ essays and other uni stuff..I have done everything envolving this film...(modelling, lighting animation etc...)

Well G.Rodi, it's a good start to be able to model, light and animate. Wen you enter a smaller production pipeline you will be the first on the list. Just keep your demo short and show of the best of your work.

Cheers!

If the technical and artistic side of your animation is strong, you could only need that for your demo. Good drawing skills are also welcome in production houses.

Well drawing shouldn't be a problem as i'm also a painter... I feel that my technical and artistic abilities are strong for someone like me who is still in the second year, i'm hoping that rather than employ me solely on what they see but also by my potential to improve greatly over the years.. SO im gonna sell myself as an animator for the future.
