Hey all.

This one is not meant to be photoreal, more of a hyper-real style. I just though I'd share it with you all.

Enjoy,
Ryan

I think that looks fabulous. Damn good. Maybe tweak the lighting, bring out the translucency, but that's a small quibble.

Does this use SSS?

Thanks for the kind words.
The 3D was done in Max 5.1, then comped in Digital Fusion. There is actually no translucency or GI in this, just a bit of displacement and a few well placed lights.

The scene itself is pretty quick and dirty.

Wow thats amazingly good, I think you have nailed down the ice 'feel' perfectly.

Is there any chance you can do a little tut? Ive been trying to achieve a similar effect for ages now but with no success. You said you used displacement to get the rock/rough/natural surface to the cavern walls. Could you go into more detal about how you did it ?

kaktuswasser and Jimzip:
I made a wallpaper version. I hope it still looks as good, because I never meant it to be rendered that big!!
