View Full Version : Modeling Mystic Circle?
artbyart 02-25-2008, 02:43 PM Dear CG Members
I need some help modeling a special circle.
It needs to look like this, just in 3D
http://img212.imageshack.us/img212/9904/circleillau0.th.jpg (http://img212.imageshack.us/my.php?image=circleillau0.jpg)
And this is what i came up with self
http://img221.imageshack.us/img221/7949/circle3dvu3.th.jpg (http://img221.imageshack.us/my.php?image=circle3dvu3.jpg)
But i canīt manage to get the circle to be 100% round both inside and outside.
Anyone who might have an idea to help me out with this little problem?
Thanks in Advance

Try dropping the spherize deformer into the same heirarchy as the circle. (EDIT--actually dont think tha will work)
PS--If you have mograph--I have a file.

I would gladly like to see that file, so i can see what you did :)
Thanks for the help.

Or somethink like this. I do not think that you need mograph or the scene file at all :)

Hi Naskoo..
That just looks GREAT. Only a slight little problem tho, the circle you made has 4 "twists" and the circle i need shall only contain 3 "twists".
I know im kinda anoying, but boss breathing in my neck :(

Using a triangle as the contour spline will give you 3 twists.

Hi Darter..
Ya i started doing that, but as i described earlier, i canīt get the shape to 100% round inside/outside and thatīs kinda important..
Do you have a suggestion how to get that "perfect" rounding? :)

Hi Naskoo..
Thanks for the effort you are putting into helping me.
But the circle you just posted have 3 Twists as it is supposed too, but it got screwed in the progress, so itīs not round anymore..
Let me know if you wanīt me to explain abit better.

you just need to find the right radius for the rail circle (increasing the radius more and more it will look like circle) or best size for the triangle spline ...

Ya that what i am trying at the moment. But i thought there might be a better trick to do this.
Hi artbyart,
Naskoo's first idea works well, but instead of 360 try 270 grades (that's three times turn). The last segment will be funny, but you can make it editable, delete it, and bridge together the open ends.

Yes--there an issue with mine too--where the first and last loft shapes connect.
I might be able to work out an expresso fix--but the other way mentioned is a much simpler/efficient approach.

there is also another soluation ... in the sweep nurbs object go to details and modify the rotation curve to be like this ,,

u can lower the new point to get less twists
cheers,

YOU ARE GENIUS. All the day i'm thinking how to make it with rect and sweep. So simple my shame!
