hey everyone!

http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g...faceProblem.jpg (http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g259/phredrek/surfaceProblem.jpg)

I'm having some issues with a scene file, there are weird shadows appearing on the surface of my polygons (the ground plane), strange lines that don't match the topology. anyone know what causes it and how I can just make it smooth?

I'm using maya 7.0
the surface in question was made with the create polygon tool and then extruded downward.

thanks!
your help is super appreciated!

Frederic.

Usually when you get a weird shadow with polys its because you did an extrude wrong. When you choose the tool then change to another tool without pulling the extrude it will create illegal geo. and will give you a wierd shadow on that surface.

I just selected the faces and did one extrude. no other tool. just one simple extrude.

thank you for your tip. I fixed the issue by adjusting the depth map shadow options. thanks!
