View Full Version : How can I speed up and slow down footage in After Effects?
legmog 02-24-2008, 11:39 AM Hey. I've just got some standard .AVI files. I used screen capture footage to record myself making a 3D model, and I've got about 10 minutes worth of me working in 3D. But I want to speed this up super fast so it lasts only about a minute or less. So how can I speed up the footage in AE?

legmog ..
import ur footage into AE and into a new Comp.
right click on the layer .. \Time \ enable time remapping
now u'll have two key frames at both ends of ur footage ..
drag the End keyframe closer to the start till the time u want it to end at . after 1 min. as u say ...
it should now be sped up :)
u can look into this tutorial if u with to understand more of the time remapping feature

There are numerous ways to do this, but the easiest one is just performing a time stretch on your layer to 10%.
If you're not sure where Stretch is, just check the help. :)

Here is a nice little time remapping tutorial:
http://library.creativecow.net/articles/preston_bryan/time_remapping.php
You can do things like have the time slow down at certain important points before speeding up again...
Hope this helped
