View Full Version : help on horse rig and animation anyone...pls?

hi everyone...
since this is my first post i hope i get a respose and i hope its in the right category.....

well...i'm in a real good need to learn how to setup a four legged animal....horse to be precise....in 3dsmax 5......

i'v never ever worked with any of the rigging options with max.......

if some body cud give me an approach as to how i can go about rigging it wud be a great help......

also if i cud find any useful resources on the net.....for horse rig setup as well as animating a four legged animal.....wud do me a world of a good......

heres a paintover of the legs from my horse rig (maya) -



red lines are ik chains -- yellow indicates move and white arcs are for rotation..

Hi Andy,

Try this...

Make two bipeds and make their legs fit in the horses.create a footstep animation for both of them and watch their legs........ur horse has actually started walking.......!!!!!physique the horse pelvis down and a lil bitta tweaking will set it right......this is tried and tested.......

Thats a CRAZY idea!, 2 bipeds?, like a panto horse? So you can physique/skin 2 bipeds?...I learn something every day.

andy, in your pic I noticed you also have extra bones coming from the top of the legs down towards the tummy area. Is this very important for horses?
