My idea is to use free form and forensic animation to complete the Earth Goes Boom FX.
It is a scenario were the core of the Earth begins to over heat, burning all of its fuel which leads up to the explostion.

I got the layer effect going, now I'm working on the earths color and atmospheric effect.
By the way does anyone have a good atmospheric technique in MAYA they wouldn't mind sharing. For the life of me I can't get it to look correnct.

Just an update, I'm almost done with the Earth Core slice. I Would appreciate any fead back on what needs fixing.

1. A slow camera orbit over the Earth
2.Which fades into a a layered view of the Earth crust,mantel,inner and outer core.
3. Camera cuts to a Motion Graphic explanation of what is going to case the Core to over heat.
4.Cuts back to the CG layered Earth and the outer Core expanding.
5.Cut to a surface shot, where we see the effects of the outer Core expanstion.
6.Cut to space where the pressure has built up and has no where to go, and Boom.
