View Full Version : maya beginner tutorial
raffael3d 04-17-2002, 12:58 PM I need a good tutorial which introduces me to the Maya interface. I have experience with Lightwave and Softimage, so I don't need an "introduction to 3d", but an introduction to maya.
any suggestions?

Isn't exactly a interface tutorial but it may help:

Call me crazy, but I thought the tutorials that came with Maya were quite good for quickly learning how to get around the program. Modeling a hammer might not be the most rewarding experience, but it'll get you adjusted to the interface :)
If you still don't like them though, I've found more at http://www.computerarts.co.uk/tutorials/type/tutorial.asp?id=28561
also there are some simple tutorials at A/W's page
http://www.aliaswavefront.com/en/Tmpl/Maya/html/index.jhtml?page=/en/Community/Learn/how_tos/how_tos_m.html&style=normal
There are some very good free video tutorials at http://www.gnomononline.com/title.html
as well as a bunch for purchase ( VHS as well ). They aren't really directed at beginners in Maya, but I find that video tutorials let you see the program in action, so you get a much better feel for it.

Definetly check out the 3dbuzz cds. The maya one has a whole heap on the interface, over an hour on just the interface i think. Well worth a look for free.
