Title: Unseeing
Name: D'Arcy Bechard
Country: Canada
Software: Painter, Photoshop

This started out very different than it ended up. the figure in my painting "Serenity" originally had a mask of sorts, along with glowing bubbles floating about. I had the thought of making a portrait of this head. However after some (I thought) unrelated soul-searching as to what kinds of messages I wanted in future paintings, this one morphed into a message of penance maintained by unknowing blindness - the figure can't see that light and freedom is nearby. Because he is trapped in the prison of his thoughts, doesn't think to just remove his mask and leave behind the corroded past.

Nice job of lighting, maybe the shoulder could be bigger to equilibrate your picture.

Nice symbolic meaning. I like the texturing on his mind mask, I think it needs a little more depth. At fist I thought it was made out of rock (than I realized it was metal) meaning he's not just a brick wall, he has feelings. (I remember part of a story where a character referred to not just being a brick wall, but a real person. Though I don't know if this is a normal English metaphor).

After that I thought that his suite looks kind of powerful. like he would be a powerful person, maybe a king and that mask was his crown, meaning being king restricts you from having emotion... oke this is the point where my imagination and the real world don't match anymore.

Great pic (I had allot of fun)

Hi guys, thanks for your comments ! It's so nice when someone notices what you do. Syran I love your backstory, mine are never thought out in any kind of detail, so I come to my understanding of what the painting could be about as I create it - so maybe I'm wrong and you are right:scream:

As a shameless plug, I'm off to spend time on music for a while, just posted a new track here:
