Thought I'd post some ideas I've been playing with... not too much to show just yet but I'm hoping to make some progress this weekend

well another very small update: I decided to go with a thinner character and here's where I'm currently at. I know its pretty rough and difficult to tell what I'm thinking but essentially she'll have a big skull on her back (some kind of animal skull with horns, most likely) and a skull tied to each hand, one being the upper half and one the lower half of the same creature-- haven't really decided but some kind of predator..

The basic idea being that this character is a scavanger who collects fossils, and uses them to amplify her (most likely) ice-based magic...

I was kind of using this geo to block out my idea and will have to go back to making a better base mesh once im completely sold on the idea :P

well I've committed myself to this female bone collector thing, as I don't have a ton of free time so if I'm ever going to meet the deadline I need to keep things rolling... As I re-model the base mesh, I'm going to try and make her look a little more tribal in her costume. Probably add some face/body paint and that sort of thing once I move to texturing as well. Anyhow, for the time being I will post my strange looking no-eared head wip!

Hopefully by tomorrow night I will have fixed the lips, nose, and added ears as well as a neck.

Continuing to build the base mesh.. Debating on the costume for her torso as well as the size of those skulls (whether they should encase the hand or leave it free to hold something as well) ... she may just cast spells using the pair as the 'artifact weapon' ... anyways, im using sabertooth skulls as reference at the moment, thinking her hand sits inside them.

Bit of an update on the basemesh... I'm trying to sort out her hair in my head but can't think up an appealing low-poly solution yet.. As far as her hands, I'm considering having some kind of rope attached to them which is hooked to whatever is on her back (probably another large skull)... the idea being that when she has her hands close to her body the hand skulls would be closed, but when she extends her arms, the rope tightens and the skulls rotate back on her wrists and expose her hands. Just an idea at this point..

Made a few changes... I'm thinking of placing a large tribal mask on her back (ref in btm right corner) and also giving her a pretty elaborate face mask (first image, bottom right)... I guess going for kind of a tribal/shaman feel. I'm picturing a lot of jewelery & other trinkets around her neck and waist.

I'm also thinking of having her carry a staff instead of having the skulls on both hands. So far I'm planning on placing a bear paw on the tip of the staff... but who knows!

Hopefully I pick up the pace in the next 2 weeks... that deadline is looming. But anyhow, here's where I am at... just imported into zbrush
