Just finished the initial concept.... needs alot of work from here but I thought I should get something up at the very least
she still needs a name though
here's her brief
Name: Sera Thatcher Avatar of the FlameGuard
Artifact: FlameGuard (Suit of Armour, Fire/lava)
her main weapon is the giant magical gauntlets and those spiky things on here back are going to be holding lamps/torches/brazers or something
more defined concept on the way
*edit* thanks to LIANNA's suggestions i have fixed the pose

Good start BERNIE :D I hope you give her some hair or something though, she's looking mighty masculine so far (though I know it's just a preliminary sketch) Here are some tips for making her look more female, that don't involve making her look like a tart.
- The pose: women's centers of gravity are generally lower than men's so try to keep that in mind when posing a girl. It'd look a bit cooler if you pushed the pose a bit further, having her hips more foreward and her back arched back a little in a defiant pose.
- the head/neck: the big thick cords in the neck look pretty manly. Women have more slender necks (generally) and smoother jawlines. It might be hard to tell the gender if her face/head look very angular.
That's my two bits worth Bernie, hope you turn out a sweet model there Bernie.

lookin good Bern!
Fire needs a bit more lovin in the concept, it doesn't quite look hot enough to my eye. Might be a matter of stylization tho :-)
Still need to put he cgtalk logo in there someplace (inside the jewel on her armor maybe?)
It'd look awesome if there were some little sparks or something coming off the flames, and some glow around the fire too.
And just as a practical point...her high heel boots are WAY too spiky. With heavy armor on she'd be striking oil with every step with those. Again, personal taste ;)
Looking foreward to seeing her in glorious 3d! :D

Looking good, nice form and concept. I'm going to do a similar weapon made of obsidian which is volcanic glass. This was used by many mesoamerican cultures in ritual sacrifice. The idea will be that once the weapon strikes it's victim it will return to it's original form of malten lava.
Keep up the great work!
