Finally another great war is starting.
The topic is fantastic ... GOOD LUCK TO ALL!
And hopefully we will win this year! ;D
A first quick shot of what came into my mind when reading the rules
for the Warlord Class ... an Angel like Warlord ... i am not 100 % shure
because i can not decide between holy and unholy ... male or female.
... so i am working on and thinking about serveral concepts at first.

I like what you have done with the wings. I would also think about the unholy/holy thing in a way where you could mix it. Maybe your own race/species of angel. I was thinking of spawn and how he is an unholy (demon) knight but still fights against evil. I think that you have a little of both worlds in this concept. The face looks a little evil but the wings feel a little different. I'm excited to see more!

hey... Looking good so far.
I have to say i prefer your 2nd concept. I like the full arm gauntlet thing on his right arm. but i'll have to see what style your going for to give proper C&C. I will say that the boots dont fit the suit of armour. They look leather and I would expect something heavy. The leather boots would go better with your 2nd concept though. I would like to see some larger wings as well. maybe not too big, and maybe just add a few more than 4/5 per wing.

Thank you for the reply. :) I had not much time the last days ... working and family have priority. I've worked out the concept a littlebit more but there are a lot of things that i am not satisfied with or which will change during the modelingsession i will hopefully find the time to start with soon. As you said i need to work on the wings ... i will try serveral concepts directly on the model them.
Overpainting my model is working best for me ... like last year ... rough concept and then developing while modelling.

Finally got some time to work on the model today. (Usally i fall into sleep after work and long sleeples nights because of our little girl Aina)
Hope i can finish him within deadline. If not ... i hope CGtalk will win. ;)

Had some time again ... blocked out armor parts for zbrush and modeled the lower body/Legs.

Just want to show some progress ... i had not much time for private work the last weeks.
I think i will not meet the deadline but i will work on him
from time to time between commercial projects.

I know exactly what your on about. Ive just had a nightmare with clients coming out of the woodwork, and not being able to turn any down. I think Ive done 4 projects in as many weeks.
As for the character, Id have to get out a anatomy book to get the muscle striations correct. I love his mass, and his hands look huge, the amount of havoc he could create. :)
Id look for some inspiriation, Doc Savage, Marv and Pitt come to mind.
Pretty quick work, hope we both make the deadline.

Yes too much projects the last weeks and too less sleep... and no ending in sight.
Here is something from yesterday (no zbrush just blocked out the armor parts)
Yes the muscle anatomy is a littlebit off ... i've just brushed without reference but i will
work on the muscles for the final.
Proportions was supposed to be similar to the pit but not that "huge and muscular".

I think that the character overall is very cool, but I think you’ve got to do something with the chest. His armor makes him look really feminine, and I think I’d like him a lot more if his chest were covered by some sort of armor.

Thanks a lot ... yes you are right. The chest should be covered by armor.
I will "connect" the upper an lower armor parts with a complete armor.
Or i change the concept an make him dancing his enemys to death :eek::D

I think dancing is against the rules ... ok exept if he is wearing cinderellas magical shoes. ;)
I did a quick mockup in the lunchbreak to show the next steps for modelling the armor for his swordarm and breast and did some lil bit more work on the color theme.
I hope gold or bronze as third deco-color is ok.

i think it would be nice if your armor had some fine detail stuff, kind of like text, or vine patterns or something like that.
i really like the design choice to combine the soft wings with such a badass type character. it reminds me a bit of the linkin pary Hybrid Theory solider with the dragonfly wings.
