Hello all !

I've stumbled across Paul Tosca's tutorial on hair using alpha maps (http://www.paultosca.com/varga_hair.html) but I still haven't been able to figure out all of it ...

I made the hair lock in paint FX and saved it as a .tga but what do I do with it now ? Am I supposed to model the hair out of multiple locks or apply that lock to a uv map or ?
Also am I supposed to paint multiple locks, because the hair growing on the sides of the head and towards the front and towards the back.

Any tips on how it's done would do great ! I posted my girl below on how I want the hair to look ... what am I doing wrong ?

Thanks for the help in advance !
Best wishes and God bless !
Vick.

i read about that tutorial too but i hardly get in Paint FX.. so i just go with the photoshop. Try paint the hair in photoshop. Use method which you feel comfortable..

Hey Vick...

Yea, the idea is once you have the paintFX image saved out with an alpha channel, you apply that to various planes that cover the head of your character, with the alpha acting as a transparency map, so only the hair shows through.
