Hi
I was looking at this bullet on Video Copilot.net and I was wondering whether anyone could help me model it?
http://www.videocopilot.net/blogstuff/bullet_02.jpg

I can get the basic shape but I was wondering how he did the end of the bullet where there is a hole and the little grooves at the tip aswell. Can anyone help with that?

Also, how would I texture that?

I would wait until his training DVD is released but that may be many months from now and I would like to create it now.

Thanks

Here is an easy way of modeling a bullet. Try to use revolve tool using spline. And you could use displacement map and bump map. You can texture it using cylinderal mapping. It nothing modeling a bullet, even animating it is nothing. You can create hole by using extrude.

In Maya you can use a boolean > difference and just use a cylindar to choose how much of the tip of the bullet's hole you want to create. Make sure you select the bullet first before the cylindar...hope that made sense.

Yea I'd agree with the bump map idear. While its obviously moving in slow-mo, I think those grooves are small enough to be alright with a high-ish res map.
