To liven things up a bit. Here's a church piece. Done in Maya and Photoshop.

great stuff. really great.

I know what you want to make for the light beems. but it is not enough. I guess you need to bring more lights there to make your well textured and modeled scene brighter.

BUT do not agree....I intended to have detail in the shadow areas and for them to be dark. If you lightened up the shadows the whole image would be flater. Just because something is modeled and textured , does not mean that you have to light it up to show it. Being subtle is more important...at least to me! But thanks for the crit anyways!

You will know that they are in the dark. But because he uses the blue for the shadow light so you'll see the detail. And it will not have the flaten feeling of it.

It is just a suggestion. your stuff is very nice.

juat wanted to add that this scene was done 80 percent in 3d and the rest was comped (the volume rays) in photoshop.

Nice image.
Three things:

1. The underside of the scafoldings are too dark and flat. There would be some bounce light to add a little shading too tthem.

2. I would think that the area under the dome with the big hole would be lighter with the volumetric light giving off it's own bounce lighting, especially around the second level of the scafolding.

3. I feel the jpg compression in your image is working against you, especially in the dark areas. Can you post a higher quality version?

But over all, it has a good focal point and nice contrast.
Well done!

Looks awesome to me, I don't think any of it looks too dark, except the places that should be dark.
