View Full Version : How do you texture a multi-polygons model?
bonthan 02-17-2008, 11:00 PM Hi, I sculpted a mesh in Zbrush with 32000 polygons and imported into 3ds max, but was ok until I added unwrap UVW modifier to texture in photoshop it became extremely slow and I can't even move the model without lagging. Is there anyway to texture a large polygon count model?

You could try using Zapplink within Zbrush instead or even Poly painting.

I tried but after I created the texture and imported it into 3ds max all I have is a mesh without texture. The texture from Zbrush can't be imported into 3ds max I think.

Na should work, your workflow should be something like this:
From ZBrush:
1: make your Zbrush model
2: GUV tile it or add uv layout some other way in ZBrush
3: paint it : using : Zapplink, projection master or poly painting
4: export texture
5: export your model (as .obj)
Into 3DS Max:
1: Import model into Max
2: Add texture
3: wonder why its all messed up and scratch head.
--- the reason for this is because the texture map needs flipping on its Vertical axis so either Flip in ZBrush before export, change in MAX or Flip in Photoshop and it will now display properly
To be honest this wouldn't be my numberone workflow for what i use it for but should fix your immediate problem.
PLus there is a ZBrush forum Downwards from here where there are many much better users than me :-)
