View Full Version : Black Spot Problem
StylizedCarfan1 02-17-2008, 07:56 PM http://i239.photobucket.com/albums/ff122/EXOTICNFS/Rims2Render.pngIt production quality with multipixel changes, I can't set to zero. That all it is. I tried Final gather but it look like more like a art rather than a photo. I never experience black spot problem before. The program is Alias maya 7 Unlimited Version, what the best setting for mental ray for Maya? I have been working on this problem for over 2 day, and still black spot :-/

I'm no pro. But I've been in school for about 6 months. The Mental Ray settings that I've bene told to use are: (Maya 2008, I think most settings should be the same...) Scanline if you're using a reflection map, if you're using actual reflections use raytracing, primary render. Secondary effects: Raytracing and Final Gather. Anti-Alias: Sample Mode: Adaptive Sampling; Min Samp. 2; Max 4. Raytracing: 5-10 for most. Just play with these until you get what you're looking for. Try final gather with these or simular settings, it shouldn't make it look any less photo realistic. Atleast, in my experience it hasn't. Everything else you should be able to leave as default. Sorry if this doesn't help, I'm not the greatest with rendering.

Actually, I fixed the problem a long time ago now. It was the material all along.

Oh well. I just saw that it was posted this month, and there was no response.
