All I could think about as I read the DMIII storyline was the Archangel Michael casting out the Dragon before the world was. I think my character will be an Warlord Archangel wielding a weapon forged with holy magic, and armour pulsing with holy light. He will be a warrior who has seen far too many battles. Scratches and dents on his armour, and shredded wings will reveal his long hours on the battlefield. Always ready for death, he will accept any chalenge from any foe. Praying that one day he will meet his match, so that he may rest from this mortal state.

This painting is by Rafael...my archangel wont have a bow in his hair!

I should have some scetches later today...or I may completely change my mind.

I was having a little trouble with my character, so I thought I could get the creative juices flowing if i thought about what the exact opposite of my warrior would look like. I took it a bit farther than I had planned. But it turned out pretty good. Let me know what you think.

with a little color.

Now back to work...I'm making some progress on the original idea now, so i guess my plan worked.

Thats quite nice, and great idea to work on the opposite design! He seems more of a supporting character though, in light of some of the other chracters.

I wonder if that is taken into consideration? I tend to think the characters will be judged against each other, so the least rediculous of the most powerful appearing characters would rate the highest. Hmm I dont know :) Good work!

I agree he is not much of a juggernaut. Perhaps some outrageously large weapons and wings would make him much more intimidating.

As far as judging goes...i have no idea what they are looking for. It seems like a very Godlike character would fit the role for the storyline. I wouldnt send this chump to defend my planet!

I've been working on figuring out the look for the weapons and armour. So far I have been sticking with a winged theme. Let me know what you all think or if any stand out. I thought for sure my character would have a sword and shield, but now I am thinking about a spear.

Here is a realy rough sketch of what i am thinking. I had a lot of ideas, and this is everyone of them thrown up all over my character. I just needed to get something on paper. Please leave feedback. I could use some help. This is my first try at this challenge stuff. I know you got something to say.

I like your idea of sketching an opposing character to your original idea to get the creative juices flowing. The great side-effect being that you created a sketch with a lot of character and cool stylization. I like him and he looks like he would be a fun project.

I like the designs for your original character's sword and helmet and I am interested in seeing where you take the armor.

So I had a great idea this morning, and the sketch turned out pretty nice as well. I'm thinking I might change my original plan. I still really want to do an archangel, but I'm hitting a wall with that idea. I will keep messing with it, but I'm hoping to get some help from the forum. I need to choose soon. Should I go for this new "horned demon" idea or stick with the "Archangel". What do you all think?

I like the idea of doing an archangel, but that demon sketch is pretty cool too...

If it were me I think I'd keep trying to push out ideas for the angel for a while. If that fails you always have the demon to fall back on right? Your sketches are all looking good. I think one of the most important things will be picking something you won't get tired of. Hate to get at the midway point of the challenge and grow tired of what you are doing or wish you had gone with a different choice.

Good Luck!

Hey mate,

Read your stuc on your angel idea. It's a pretty well-defined subject in my opinion. Certain Do's and Do-not's. My myself usually go for a female approach.
Anyways, what the big bump in the road? what are u stuck on?
Some stuff that popped up in my mind when seeing your posts here:

Angel - warrior angel - dropped from heaven and stuck on earth - banished from heaven and in need of redemption - heaven has been 'corrupted' and the angel is searching for the cause/culprit down on earth - Heaven is actually on earth and in need of saving (but oh so stereotype) ** All situational thoughts

Then I started thinking about what heaven and earth would be like?

Some kind of futuristic mechanical age - maybe a 'Political' vantage point? - post-apocalyptic earth 'Mad Max' - ...

Maybe during the angels fall from grace, it has lost some limbs or the like, and replaced those with constructs of human enginering and technology.

So eventhough this arch-angel theme has it's road-blocks, try in play with the contrasts like an angel in need of excosism or the like :D
Really waiting to see where you get with that idea...
