Hello,
My Name is David Bussom I attend fullsail real world education and I am currently in the scene finishing and compositing class. We have a practicle in 3 days and I need some help or advoce on color correcting in shake. We have gonne over almost all of the tools and even had a test on shake layering and what the color correction tools do. If you are not familiar with fullsail its classes are 1 month long and 40 hrs a week 4 hr lecture 4 hr labs, so its not like I have been slacking. I have a practice practicle but cannot get the picture to match. I have read all the tutorial I coul dfind on shkae but no luck. I need help on how to approach a color correction I think. Thank you for any advice or websites that you leave.

If I understand you right, you have an image you are trying to match using a color correct node in shake?

If som then everyone has their own styles and techniques on how to solve this but heres one way I like to do it (there might be better ways tough)

Start with your black point and white points, compare the wo and just look at the Luminosity channel of your images.

I don't use shake that much (we have a proprietary compositor), but I think there is a curves tab where you can really dial in the black and whites.

Once those are looking close (in the Luminosity channel) you can start to move on to color.

I generally try to get an overall feel for if I need to make the image warmer or cooler then start making these broad adjustments.

After general temperature is starting to look good, I move onto individual channel comparison.
Dial and compare only Red, then Blue, then Green, and back and forth if neccessary.

For the really detailed stuff use the shadow, highlights midtone corrections as well

Sometimes it just takes moving sh*t around t and see what you get. . .

hope that helps

Thanks for your postand yes it helps. I really just needed a guiding light on where to start. We were just shown the nodes really and not a personal workflow at all. But having a starting point for me helps alot then I can learn and branch out to my own style. So thanks for the advice.
