Hello everybody : ) I have been painting a lot recently and have posted below. Would love hearing your advice/critiques, since many of you folks have probably been down this road before. Basically I have a way of working in photoshop that creates the desired effect for my artwork. I can achieve hyper-realistic figurative and facial effects, with super smooth gradations that contrasts with collage like patterns/textures. I want to translate this style to a tangible 24" x 36" paint/mixed media work that can be experience by the viewer. But it is becoming a major challenge to achieve this look.
I have begun researching master painting techniques, then practicing basic gray scale under-painting, glazing and various approaches, but am new to this. I haven't found many resources for this subject. Any painting technique suggestions/books/videos for realistic figure painting/old master techniques?
Basically here is the look I am going for directly below. Is this possible to achieve in paint?

I often employ a distorted look to the human form, but sometimes I cannot tell when I am intentionally distorting the human form or having problems translating anatomy. Suggestions welcome.
