Hey, been a while since I posted anything concerning this guy. Spent time trying to get the ruddy texture right.

Heres the original concept:

and heres the work so far:

(I changed parts of the concept as I prefered the t-shirt).

Triangle Count: 2610.
Texture: 1* 2048^2 texture.

The parts that I definately know I need to work on are mainly asymmetry within the texture and parts of the model. However, im not sure whether to create a specular/normal map or not.

All opinions are welcome. Thanks :) .

Add more detail in the face. Right now it looks like you have way too many polys invested in areas of the character that are not as important. Faces are the focus of the character. Add the detail to the face and go from there. I would also try and define the characters body more, it just seems really blocky. You could also give him some more bunny features, but I don't know if that is what you are going for. Hope this helps.

what exactly makes him british? And its pretty obvious you working working from a front reference only. He lacks 3 demensional form.

Just following on from that question, the 'I heart' style tshirt and converse chuck taylor trainers are both very strong American symbols, so I think if you want to keep those he needs to be Barry the US Bunny.

Or if you wanted him to be British maybe try going for a look more along the punk lines, which uses the Union Jack a lot, for instance give him a 'God save the Queen' tshirt and maybe some boots like these http://www.boots4all.com/images/s1000ujx.jpg.

Ok....after some debate (very little however extremely persuasive debate), I've renamed him to "Barry the Bunny" as his attire doesn't scream "British".

However, i'm really at a loss as to what I can do with him because frankly....I think I like him as he is. Simple and basic yet the right animation might work wonders.

Heres some renders at different viewpoints:

And seeing as though I like the mudbox shot of the head (think it looks better in Mudbox)....

See im still on the fence as to whether a normal/specular map is really necessary for a model in this style. Its just the texturing that I'm not sure about and I dont know he could benefit by going through Photoshop a bit more.

I dont think I really want to add anymore to the tri count. Want to keep it at mid 2'000.

Any hints or tips are greatly appreciated.

ok here are a few things i think would improve your character. First the texture just seems kinda blurry and muddy. I think the problem is your inexperience is making you hesitant when painting the texture. I was this way too. You arnt sure how to paint the forms exactly how you want. So you just play it safe and keep everything blurry. Try saving out a new texture and use a hard edged brush and just really go for it and see what happens. Soft brushes are the devil. Use hard edged ones and then just changed the opacity and flow of them.

ALSO dont do the normal map or specular thing. I could imagine how it would look and its not pretty. The best thing you can do for this guy is to paint as much detail as you can directly into your color map. Then Render the character at 100% self illumination so that there is no lighting information. Or just throw a skylight on the scene.

then for the final composite, Maybe give him a thin black stroke in photoshop. I think it would help the style your going for. OK good luck!

I dunno if this would suit ur style, but as a suggestion, I would make the textures more detailed. Like they look good, but add more fine details. Like more of a cloth texture for his cloth and more fine details like instead of having his face just like blurred hair or brownish color. Make it more like little fine hairs. Which would really bring out his attitude in my opinion. But otherwise, I like the model and think it looks great. = )

Thanks for all the feedback so far guys, it is well appreciated and acknowledged.

I've started working on improvements regarding the texture. Only basic so far as I want to perfect the flow of the fur before applying the same technique to the whole model.

(P.S. this is self illuminated to focus on the texture rather than the model).

Again all feedback is welcome.

(P.S. Watership Down is an emotional film about the life and times of a group of rabbits. :D).

Ok, ive added the self-illumination and given him some more detail to the fur (as well as a goatee). Want to work on some other stuff today so i'm going to leave him alone for a bit but any suggestions or opinions are welcome :D.
