View Full Version : Camera Animation
DSedov 01-09-2002, 11:08 PM I have a small quiestion. Im working on animatic right now, and trying to modify already existed movement to be as real as it can get.
I was trying to write a script using some procedurals and gauss functions but it doesn't seam to be working. At least it doesn't give me realistic camera movement (this kind of shakey result that you can see in "The Cathedral" for example.)
So I was wondering if you guys could share with me your secrets for camera movement. I assume it have to shake from time to time but can't
get it right.
Thanks in advance

Here's what I do in MAX. I animate a camera either by hand or by path so I get a basic motion. Then what I do is apply Motion capture controller to camera's x and y coordinates and bind that to x and y axis of joystick. I also bind camera's FOV control to two buttons on the joystick so I get zoom in and out with joystick's buttons. This is simply excellent way to animate a freehand camera animation and you also have control over overall animation of camera with path.
I was always curious if I could do something like that in Maya, if anyone knows please reply...if not I'll check myself as soon as I liberate some time.

A method I like to use is to look thru the camera (PANELS / PERSPECTICVE / CAMERA # ) and set the AUTO KEYFRAME TOGGLE on, then make the adjusted moves at certain frames in the animation. Heres an example... 2 MECHS WALKING (http://www.crazyhood.com/test/2_Mechs_Anim_2.avi)
