I believe that if this sounds too good to be true, than now is the time for it to be true. What I mean, is that now with broadband and internet speed, the more advanced networking that goes on with online gaming, the wireless peripherals, and endless games, all you need is someone, or someones, to take this to the next level and blow us all away.

Ya its called Xbox Live.

Interesting I remember the previous "Phantom" Site. It was a total joke. I really wonder how they are gonna release this thing when they still don't even have specs on it and are asking openly for people to contact them with help. Xbox Live took quite a while to test and make sure it worked properly and so far out of the big boys its the most well planned out.
I wonder how InfiniumLabs plans to release this thing next year (they mentioned that on the previous ghetto site) when they still don't have specs, or have semi-openly tested it, or have really seemingly gotten any major developers to sign up...unless they are all hush hush. Don't you think someone on the main team would've leaked something? Or maybe a developer would've leaked they were planning on working with them?

I'll believe this when I see it in the stores and on a friggin shelf.
As for now its just a neat-o techno flash site and just that. You know the type...wouldn't it be cool to make a game...here's my rad Flash Trailer for it, its gonna sell millions...oh whats an engine?
If the older site is still up take a look at their "booths" you can tell they just cut and paste their logo on top of the signs. Ya I was dorky enough to look that close.

Who knows though, maybe I'm totally wrong, maybe this is the coolest thing ever. If that is the case I'll still probably just play PC games.

Well I couldn't find the old site that Penny Arcade linked too a while back...they probably pulled it cause it sucked so bad...anyways here's some info from a recent interview I guess.

In this article the specs were to be released on the 25th of March 2003. I still can't find any...maybe I didn't look over the site enough. I hope they can make the systems fast enough, cause November is right around the corner!

yeah, it seems funny. I imagine they are trying to sound big, but maybe aren't by any means. Well, we can wait and see. You can always hope for the best, they have good intensions, and what's wrong with working on cool gaming systems :) perhaps a cooler name would help, if anything. hehe, okees, we'll see.

well with pc online gaming already being so huge and most consoles have already got broadband gaming or are going to get it in the near future i think this system is definately going to fail

also anyone who can afford this this....(think its gonan retail for like 600$-700$) probably already has a decent pc which is much better for online gaming anyways

No doubt. I figured that was a given. When I referenced Xbox Live I was saying amongst the current top 3 console systems. PC Online has always been my preferred choice.

Oh and a small plug. Freelancer is a very dope online/single player game...its kinda like Diablo but in space...and is extremely addictive:).

well I respect everyones opinions here, but I am always the type to give the benifit of the doubt!! If and when it releases, I believe it will kick but and definately compete with the "big dogs"

Especially if you have the right people behind it all!!

I thinks it's gonna burn.....Hard.....painful...

why?

1. It isn't Japanese, apart from the Xbox(wich is backed by a huge financial budget) no other "foreign" console has lasted long in the market.

2. support? I haven't heard of a single developer willing to produce or ports for the phantom console..

3. Broadband...A large group o people don't have acces to broadband (yet)

4 Downloadable games?, even with broadband it would sure take a while to get it, and where do you store it? on it's hard drive? that's gonna fill up real soon. how do you pay for the games?

5.......er,...I'l get back on that..

the gaming industry is a very dangerous market at the moment and any unknown, new, different console is being looked at pretty sceptical..

EA already stated they will not develop or licence for the phantom.

The Phantom is an entertaining lawsuit waiting to happen. hahaha

I have PS2, Gamecube, Xbox, and two P4 PCs. Why would I need Phantom? You will find that majority or people will have at least one console at their home.

In addition, downloading a game through broadband doesn't sound too cool for me.... I don't want to download hundreds of megabytes for a game. CD and DVD technology is just fine for me!

As name suggests... it will be a phantom product. They should have done some marketing research before creating this company....
