I don't know if this is the right forum for something like a logo but since here are a lot of talented people I thought I give it a try.

I would like to have a watermelon slice as logo and I tried different POVs

#1

#2

#3

#4

#5

#1 looks "real" and I guess it's ok, but #4 looks more energetic.

I want the melon slice to be simple yet to look "fresh". Thus if you put some water drops on it to make it more "fresh", it disrupts the simplicity.

Any suggestions for a better POV or how to keep it simple but "fresh" ;)

its not so much the subject that makes a logo interesting, than it is the way that image is portrayed. So I think you're on the right track when it comes to how to present it. My personal preference is to combine the logo with some typography (the name of your comapny, for ex).

When desiging a logo, it's best to consider how it will be portrayed (web resolution, printed on T-shirts, b/w for newsprint ads, etc). One problem i can see right now is you have gradients in your logo. This is fine for a website, t-shirt or pamphlets, but what if you needed to print it in black and white (for newsprint ads, say). Gradients might not read so well.

Also, right now, the image looks just like what it is - a watermelon slice. There's no style to it and, in my opinion, would be suitable clip art. Your job as the designer is to take away that clip art feeling and put your own artistic style to it.

Good luck and keep up the good work.

Agree...and this is exactly what gives me a headache. Keeping it simple and yet artistic is very hard for me. Nevertheless you gave me some inspiration. Thank you.

Suggestions of any kind are still appreciated.

I agree with Pangarang above.

Number 1 lends itself to the most flexibility in my opinion. You also have the option of adding negative space seeds (i.e white seeds) instead of the black one.

Your logo is not complete until you have your text in though.

Is this a new version... or is the project already finished? and you went with version 5 slightly rotated?

greets!

@matsman:

I wish it had been my idea and project =) but I have nothing to do with mad multimedia

wow that is uncanny... then you should definitely not go with version number 5. And I already saw your colours are slightly darker... maybe go for a little more variation.

Anyway... I hope my dicovery helped you out one way or the other... I just had to post it. Good luck with it and for all it's worth I vote for angle #2.. a little bit weird but still acceptable.

Another idea; you might want to try it with a bite out of the middle bit

Bye! :wavey:

I think you should do something along the lines of 4, but the part closest to the *camera* needs to be bigger, almost like a fisheye that's set looking straight down the side of the slice. good work so far, looks nice.

I really like the simplicity of #1. Seedless is even cooler... I think it leaves a lot open for expansion, etc.
