Hi all,

I'm planning to build myself an new pc to be used at home!
are there any good sites that recommand test and rank components in a easy and understandable way?

I use Maya, Rhino, Blender and some 2D

I want to build a system based on the bew E8400 Core2 or the new quadCore Q9300, I willl go for a 8800gt as I can't afford a quadro fx 3700, mayabe I can than mod it into a quadro?
Are there any suggestions for the motherboard? I thought about a Asus p5k-e with WiFi
I would like to build a quiet system are there any Cases & Power Supplies you recommand?
Will be 50 WAtt enough or is ahigher wattage more silent?
In all this I'm focusing on good Price/quality rleation not "the best" at any cost!

You wont be able to mod that geforce into a quadro.

Since you are running Maya, may I suggest a FireGL card. They cost significantly less than Quadros, and they'll give you equal or better performance. A $780 FireGL V7600 will whip a $1460 QuadroFX 4600.
