Hey guys,

I am in need of a texture. Imagine if you will a bundle of cables or wires, laid down in sheets so thick you cant see the wall behind it. just jumbles and jumbles of cables. If anyone has a decent seamless texture of something like that, I would appreciate permission to use it in non-commercial things.

Thank you in advance.

Well, what sort of material are the wires made of? Metal? Rubber? Painted Metal? There's a lot of variety. Also, I'd recommend texturing them as a whole instead as individual cables. If you have the same pattern on all the cables, you're going to notice very quickly that they're all clones of each other, and it'll look odd.

for 3dsmax users I'd recommend using Neils 'WireJumble' script(part of the soulburn scripts pack & I think also in the old blur scripts pack)

the benefit of doing it in 3d is you can render out height, normal, opacity, color maps etc, offering all the control of a 3d scene to create a 2d texture

Thanks for the plug Stefan :) Although I recommend not using the old blurpack one, that's like 7 years old now, and isn't nearly as full featured as the soulburn one.
