Title: Colonel Von Bittbruhn
Name: Philippe Doyon
Country: Canada
Software: Maya, Photoshop

This image was done in maya. The head got a mudbox lifting. The textures were done in photoshop. The background is Photoshop, ain't 3d. The smoke is maya fluids (2d) except the skulls, they were added after in photoshop. There are no fancy shaders or photon passes or whatever, raytracing only for reflections (1 ray bounce). Many passes. The renderer was maya software. Render dimensions 2475X3300.

It depicts Colonel Bitbruhn greeting the unfortunate Pit Toyuwo at the Keubrunik work camp. As we all learned in school, Pit Later escaped the work camp using his auto-bone breaking skills and his time machine in a cunning and unforeseen way. But before that he was grreted by Colonel Bitbruhn, known for his penetrating charisma.

Well what do you want me to say? "Oh no another colonel with his visor over his eyes! Well I guess you just got me huhuhu" Fallen Art is really a great short but this has nothing to do with it and neither ain't the first to have such a character.

Anyway thanks for all the useful comments... Glad you like.

Very good render. I like the lightning alot :). I think you could have added some type of SSS(Subsurface scattering) to his face, just a little bit you know... right now the shader looks a bit 'lifeless' and cold.

Otherwise I like the character alot, great work!

Great style, I like this character, good shapes and insignia design... cool skulls too

My only crit is that the cigar looks weird on his lips

Yeah maybe I could have added some scattering but I thought it was ok without, maybe I should have... anyway on the next one.

Cigar, yeah maybe. First version was squeezed between his teeth but I reverted to something that looked less like a joint. Maybe the lips should have been more tight on it. I thought that since I often put the cigarettes floating in front of the mouth I could try something like that in 3d (but less extremme).

Thanks for the comments.

Very nice job Phil!

My only comment would have been to have a bit more saturation in dark areas. Other than that, I quite like the design et textures of this character!

Wow!
