Title: Relatively Portal
Name: Linkitch Kasper
Country: Denmark
Software: 3ds max, Photoshop, VRay

Our first 4 week project at school, I used about about 5-6 weeks though, extra time both before and after the deadline.

When I was brain storming, I didn't know exactly what I wanted to do. I wanted to create something that required more texturing than modeling, since I was pretty inexperienced with that, so I had to incorporate that somehow. I found a picture done by Escher called "Relativity stairs" and since I was also playing Portal at the time I thought the project would be perfect to test my skills on.

Everything you see in the picture was made by me, I took loads of reference pictures from within the game, but ultimately I recreated everything myself to get the style that you find within the game.

That looks really good, I like how you incorporated a lot of the different objects and such from the game.

If it was mide I would have hid a cake somewhere in there though. (You'll only get it if you've played it). :)

You should have hidden a cake some where just to make the people who have played the game laugh :)

Very cool and well done by the way

I say you should have had "the cake is a lie" somewhere. :D

I like the idea. very intriguing concept. I wish you had one of the orange glowy balls flying through the air.

Yes, I considered hiding a cake in the scene. But I didn't really think it fit very well. I do have the cake portraied on the Poster, so it refers to the fact that there is cake on the level.

I would like to have more effects in the scene, but since I have no experience with that what so ever, I thought it would be a shame to use too much time experimenting, and just focus on getting a nice scene instead.

And thanks for the replies. I'm quite happy with the result myself :)

PS. If you want to find a large version of the picture, I uploaded one to DeviantArt (http://linkitch.deviantart.com/art/Relatively-Portal-76837871)

Haha, nice work, I easily recognized your models. I played the game until I had beaten it, and looking at this image reminds me how sick I felt afterwards.

Good job!
