Alright folks,
I'm looking for a good solid set-up in Maya for animating a character that is weilding a weapon with which both hands are gripping (currently a katana sword). The method I've been using of late is a ''weapon'' joint attached to the first hand (which the weapon is parented to) the second hand is then IK'd at the wrist and knuckle, and these IK handles are parented to the ''weapon'' joint. This set up seems to work with simple animations but the more extreme the anim the more unruly the IK becomes (irritating flipping, which leads to having to key every frame at points, which inturn leads to less smooth animation) Does anybody know of a better set-up? bearing in mind I can't add more bones.
cheers.
