View Full Version : FXWars! EARTH GO BOOM!: BASTIAN TRAUNFELLNER, commission shot, earth_horizing.
Sorath 02-09-2008, 09:19 PM hi there.
hmm.. i saw this challenge and i knew i have to do it!!
i love scifi and space things.
i started playing around and did already a slapcomp from an earth rendering.
i hope i have the time to finish an animation here.
trying to get an 60's old film look in this.
shot1: rising sun.
shot2: maybe an austronaut and a spaceshuttle (i'm not a good modeller, but maybe i'll try it).
this two shots should give you a warm, safe and lucky feeling.
shot3: a meteor rising to the earth.
shot4: the impact.
the more shots/ the more cuts - the more action..
still planning around about deeper story.

1. earth
2. clouds (prozedural)
3. clouds (texture)
4. haze
5. sunshape
6. sun-streaks
7. sun-aura
everything else is grading in photoshop.
btw. everything very rough at the moment.. and all rendered on an macbook pro :-)

and the last.
the sun aura is a plane animated with n-cloth over the earth and sun.
then sculpting with artisan and made an blendshape for later animation of the sunrise.

got an f*#§ing good idea yesterday.
i started modelling one graphical garage yesterday, so my idea extended.
i'll do an graphical/surreal part... can't really describe it, but i have it already in my mind.
it begins with absolute minimalism at the beginning and is growing to something extraordinary, till the cam moves through big skyscrapers, then it lifts up, trough clouds, out of the earth.
everything in this spots will be black and white.
it's absolute dark, ..then the sun starts rising behind the earth.. in it's full color.
and then there is the meteor and the impact.
the problem for now is that this two parts of color and b/w don't match.
one surrealism part and then a realism part.
maybe i can match it a bit more if i mix the b/w part with some colors.
here the rough comp of shot1.

and here a comp of shot2.
http://img171.imageshack.us/img171/6345/garagecomp01smallcf3.th.jpg (http://img171.imageshack.us/my.php?image=garagecomp01smallcf3.jpg)
i'll animate the camera parallel to this things, ..and there will be a next shot with a staircase building up like transformers.
then a shot through a dark tunnel where you can only see the lights.
then a bridge and some streets and buildings - in fisheye perspective.
then finally the streets with it's skyscrapers.
hmm.. but in one month.. - i know it is a fx chellenge and everything is about the cool animation of an exploding earth, but this ideas are for a long time in my mind, and now is the right time to visualize it.
