View Full Version : Character: Lady of the Lake Concept
Venge 04-30-2003, 09:00 AM So, first concept post. Just a pencil sketch I started and finished in a few hours today. Any thoughts? I'm brainstorming concepts for my next model. Man... I just can't post the pic at high enough res to do it justice. I'll get it posted online tomorrow. Thanks!

Finally another reply! Ah, bless you lovely people who take the time to make me feel better about my work! Yes, of course you may paint it. I've just begun a similar endavor myself and I'd be incredibly interested to see what we both end up with! Infact, I'd be more than happy to host it myself, if you're interested. My husband owns and runs the loungeman.com domain (soon to be up and better than ever soon! Next weekend at the latest!) WE have plenty of extra space, and it's what I use myself. Just e-mail me when you've got it ready and we'll have it up asap. Of course you're welcome to do whatever you want. So here's to you. I'm facinated to see what you come up with.

Boy oh boy! She's beautiful. I wish I had some crits for you. I just can't wait to see her in color and then in 3d.
Is she going to be animated in the long run or is she just for posing? The reason I ask is that you'll have to take her hair and skirt thingy into serious consideration to get it to behave correctly. Since you're at the concept stage still..i just thought i'd bring it up.
keep us posted! excellent work!

left eye looks a little messed up and the lips i think (don't quote me) looks like they need to be wider.
there is also something about her hips i don't like.
???????HEY! wheres the lake?
oops sorry she is standing on it.
in the little pic it looked like grass.

Hey! Thanks everyone for your kind critiques and complements! You've been a great help in the work I'm currently doing to make her into a final colorized piece.
I totally know what you mean about her head being a tiny bit wide. I did that to help her have a more child-like face, but in the final piece I think I've slimmed it out the tiniest bit to the benefit of the overal image.
I agree that her left eye is crappy. This original sketch was pretty tiny and difficult to edit on the page. That has also been corrected.
The mouth is small for the simple reason of style. The same can be said of her body shape. Like, her soulders are a bit wider thatn her hips. I used myself for that model. Man, I love statuesque shoulders. And she obviously not realistic to any stretch of the imagination.
Anyway. I have been working on the final image over the last week. It reamains unfinished as of today. I'm currently working between this piece and a 3d WIP. Hopefully it'll be finished by the end of the week. Thanks again!
KEEP 'EM COMING!

It's a great concepts and the texture is really soft and otherworldly.
The face kind of reminds me of an aging, but well-preserved oriental lady, which is throwing the image off a bit for me.
The preportions seem fine, the small hips make her look like a fairy or something.. All good there for me. The legs below the knees might seem the slightest bit too short in comparison to the thighs, but it's hard to tell with the size of the image. I hafta scroll on my browser, so it could just be me.
great drawing.

just one comment: the left eye is alot smaller then the right. Maybe it's me, but it's looks kinda strange.
Nothing but praise for the rest :applause:
