I have a slight problem I was hoping someone could help me with. I am trying to texture a room interior and rather than making one huge texture map, I have broken each wall into a separate object so I can UV map it individually.

When I run one of the walls through the UV Setup Wizard, I get a good unwrapping, but it leaves a lot of blank space in the map. I have attached a jpg (map 1) for your review. Does anyone know a way I can get the map to optimized the space on the texture, basically, get it to look like the second image (map 2)?

Thanks, any help would be appreciated.http://hakmedia.com/uv_maps.jpg

In BodyPaint3D, select the polygons or points on the UV map. Select the UV Scale tool and scale the polygons or points. You may need to move the set after scaling to center it in the UV 'box'. Store the new UVs and away you go.

You can automate the scaling with the Realign command in BodyPaint. Switch to the BP UV Edit layout. Select the UV faces and go to UV Edit->Realign. Make sure that Realign is selected and Preserve Orientation is switched on. Press Apply. Check the manual for more information about the Realign tool's options.

cheers,
Matthias

Under UV commands is a button called 'Fit UV to Canvas'.

I think thats what your looking for.

Oh, you had to go and spoil all of the fun... ;)

There are always three or more ways to do the same thing in C4D/BP and one that is easiest.

Actually, "realign" is what you should use.
"Fit UVs to canvas will stretch them to maximize the UVs to the canvas area, which isn't good when you want to texture in an external application and not use projection painting.
The Realign command will not stretch your UVs and keep them in relation to your model.
